Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has reported on areas of war for over more than 45 years. Her research focuses on human suffering and disasters. Curry reported on conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, born November 19th 1956 (Agana) was an American journalist, who was an anchor on television. Curry is known for reporting emergencies and disasters that affect the human condition, especially in countries which have suffered the effects of war. Curry is the daughter of an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. After World War II, her parents began to meet during her father's service in Japan. As a result of her father's active military service the family moved often. They eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry earned a bachelor of journalism degree in the year 1978. It's possible that her first exposure to cultures and life experiences have influenced her empathetic approach to how she communicates about international issues. Curry along with her husband frequently moved which is why she could not stay in one school more than 2 years. The couple moved to various locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland in Oregon is the school where Curry earned her diploma. She began a career that would lead to a lucrative career by working as an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. The first female news anchor at this station at the age of 22. Then, she stepped on to become an anchor and reporter at KGW KGW, which was the NBC affiliate station in Portland. Four years later she moved back to Los Angeles as a reporter for the KCBS-TV. In the course of her work with this channel for six years that she received the two Emmy Awards.
